EPMD - Crossover

Anyhow, this is the test pressing for EPMD's 'Crossover' 12" from 1992. It features an alternative mix which can only be found on this record, nice huh? It also has the original track with instrumentals and the track ' "Brothers From Brentwood L.I."
I'm not putting up audio clips for the TP remix or anything but the original version can be found on Youtube, nice clip anyway.. The song is about a phenomenon called 'selling out', still very relevant topic today, some 15+ years later. So on that note i'm quoting E Double the Green Eyed Bandit "I'll stick to underground, keep the crossover".

Todays Arrivals

You guys know ABrotherWithSoul? He a real nice dude from Germany with a dope blog, go check it out here.
So, we traded some records, here's a snapshot of the D. Auguste - Rain Dance 12" he hooked me up with. It's a nice melodic track with hard drums and dope piano chords and the dj cutting up Ol Dirty's 'my hip hop drops on you head like rain' on top. You know the deal, real hip hop. B-side is dope too. Youtube has a soundbite.

The other 12" i got from him is by a crew called the Soul Kid Klik. Now i don't like the A-side that much so the B-side wins again, "Spark tha Mic" is my tune here. Again, audio is available on Youtube.
The bonus track is also nice, it's called "10 Mack Commandments" which, of course, takes Biggie's '10 Crack Commandments' but flips the subject matter, in the same vein Doo-Wop did the '10 Tape Commandments' and Skills did the '10 Rap Commandments'. Oh, and while we're at it don't forget to check out Unkut's hilarious '10 Twitter Commandments'.

Enter the Dragon

Welcome!

So, another blog i hear you think. Indeed, there are many blogs, but this one is mine.

So, who am I? I am a thirty something hip hop cat from Amsterdam who goes by the moniker of 'Stylus' and I will use this blog thingie as my little spider in that web we call 'the internets'.

We'll see how this works out as there is no real plan here. Anyway, i just want to say thanks for coming along the ride, i hope we have some fun.
